Tornio Recycling centre
The Tornio Recycling centre in Pirkkiö accepts waste from companies.
The Recycling centre is located in the district of Pirkkiö in Tornio next to the Pirkkiö heating plant of Tornion Voima Oy between Lohelankatu and Preekinkatu.
From Kromitie , the Recycling centre is accessed via Kerankatu, Levysepänkatu, Tasalankatu and Lohelankatu. The entrance gate to Recycling centre is located on the Preekintie side at Preekintie 104. From Näätsaarentie, Ekoasema is accessed via Kerankatu and Lohelankatu, which have signs with instructions on how to get to the Preekintie gate.

As of 4 May 2021, the disposal of garden waste is a paid service.
All prices include VAT of 24%
The above prices are valid when the sorting of waste is done by customer.
Accepted payment methods are bank and credit cards and contactless payment – we do not accept cash. Fees for larger quantities are paid by invoice, and invoices are subject to an invoicing surcharge of EUR 5 per invoice.

Note to corporate customers: a waste transfer note is always required when dropping off waste loads.
We can arrange the collection of any of the waste products mentioned above for companies, housing companies and public operators as well as individuals who have a large amount of waste. If you need a tailored waste container, such as a skip, get in touch and we’ll help you find the perfect solution for you.
Recycling centre only accepts the waste types mentioned above. If you have any questions about the types of waste Recycling centre accepts, please contact Jaakko Martikainen or Raimo Pohjanen. Anyone who drops off non-accepted waste or otherwise violates the instructions of Recycling centre staff will be charged a sum based on the costs incurred by the violation.
Customers of Recycling centre are expected to sort their waste themselves and take it to the appropriate sites, in which case there is no fee for dropping off any of the free-of-charge materials listed above. If you would like Recycling centre staff to sort a load of waste, you will be charged a sorting fee determined on a case-by-case basis.
Recycling centre accepts clean and painted wood when clearly separated, sorted and dropped off at the appropriate sites by the customer. Wood waste must be free from plastic and other rubbish.

We sell garden soil products, such as bark mulch, which you can easily pick up when dropping off waste.

The Tornio Ekoasema development project
Pohjaset is building the waste management centre Ekoasema in the district of Pirkkiö in Tornio, which is a key part of the company’s development strategy for its recycling and bioenergy businesses. Ekoasema accepts waste from both local companies and individuals, and customers may also purchase processed secondary products after dropping off their waste. The environment and safety are the principles on which our operations are based, which is why we want to offer a convenient waste drop-off service for our customers and also the opportunity to buy secondary products. The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for North Ostrobothnia has granted Pohjaset Recycling Oy a development grant for the development of the recycling business project. The project’s key measures are the investments into the Ekoasema waste management centre in Pirkkiö in Tornio and the wider development of the company’s recycling business.
Pohjaset Recycling Oy develops and produces recycling processes based on its customers’ needs. The goal of the processes is to minimise the amount of waste generated and to produce secondary products for the company’s corporate clients and to sell secondary products to individuals at the Pirkkiö Ekoasema in Tornio. Our company is based on the principle of working continuously to improve our operations by listening to our customers and actively developing our services.
Pohjaset produces recycling and bioenergy services for its customers in a wide area across Finland and Northern Sweden.
